Matt Wright
Congratulations to Matt Wright, who won a slot to the Iron Songwriter Finals in December! He and 6 other teams were asked to write about mustard, and his uplifting piano pop ballad about the life of Mustard brought laughter and tears to the audience. We now have our 6 finalists for the finals in December who will be returning to battle for the title, trophy and cash on December 17th. While he was out performing Team Pirate took on Team Ninja in battle royal, and when the swords and nun-chucks were finally dropped the final scores were: Team Ninja: 120 Team Pirate: 90 On Friday night we promised you 100% Hilarious Improv, and we are happy to say it was hilarious. The first half was all games (like that improv TV show you know and love) and the second half delved into the movie making process showing the real story behind how movies are made. Zombie Old Yeller, Rachel and Dylan setting up Ethan and Michael to kiss on stage and seeing Titanic reenacted in under a minute were just a few of the priceless moments last weekend. Now on to December news! It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Improv!
The biggest holiday show of the year is here!! Come celebrate around the Nondenominational Comedy Tree because its a Festivus for the rest of us, and we are ready. Featuring Christmas Carols, improvised musical numbers, an “It’s a Wonderful Life” styled look at the impact of one person’s life on the world and at least a dozen more entirely new Holiday Themed games like Spin the Dreidel, Reindeer Games, Toybox Theater. Friday November 18th: We've promised you 100% hilarious improv, and it will be! Full of games, games, games and more games, but wait! There is more! On Friday November 4th two teams met ready to perform true improv battle. Once the smoke had cleared the results were:
Team DDR: 105 Team Track N' Field: 110 By the narrowest of margins Track N' Field showed that headbands and high kicks were integral to victory. Highlights? The sheer amount of Glow-sticks and Glitter team DDR brought to the stage, and a "White Christmas" sing off during Challenge in a Minute. Then on Saturday The Guy Fawkes Night of Drama was a hilarious success. In "Director's Cut" an ex-super solider and current President of the United States saved his brother in "Rolling Death" and then during the second half Infinite Jest showed how a detective named Horatio solved the case of a murderous Arch Duke in "A Midsummer's Night Scream". Amazing intricate plot lines, one liners and enough product placement to pay for Michael Bay's next film which is of course why we are doing this. See you all in 2 weeks! "Friday night? Saturday night? Both...?" Wondering what to do this weekend? Let us solve your puzzle for you. That's right, it's the first weekend of November already, which always equals improv. On Friday the 4th, the Nashville Entertainment System is BACK as two teams battle head to head to prove their improv game supremacy. Featuring a run of high energy action-packed improv games, scenework and pure entertainment, enjoy watching your suggestions come to life in ways you've never expected. On Saturday the 5th, we remember, remember the 5th of November in a Guy Fawkes Day celebration. We present a dramatic night of intrigue, betrayal, and action bordering on the explosive and showcasing some of the most unique and interesting long form improv comedy formats. Starting with Director's Cut, a improvised movie brought to life in stunning 3D; with all the extra features, celebrity cameos, deleted scenes and more. Following that up, we have the actors of Infinite Jest dazzling you with Shakespearean prose, puns, and fights. Purchase your tickets right now! Don't make us call out a vendetta against you. Also props to our trivia winners with simultaneous replies to the Monthly Trivia Contest that is happening over in our newsletter. H.G. S. & Amanda M. both answered "Name one of the three awards that the Nashville Comedy Theater won in the Nashville Scene's "Best of Nashville" reader poll." and have walked away with free passes to one of our shows. Next month, it could be you! |
