Are you a musician in the Nashville area? Have you wondered about how to create magic while improvising a song, or composing a soundtrack to a scene in the moment, live? We are hosting a special workshop this Saturday January 25th that is FREE to selected musicians. Veteran music director, Mike Descoteaux, full time Artistic Director of ImprovBoston, and founder of the industry-pioneering Music Program at The Second City Training Center as he leads participants through a whirlwind tour of the comedy universe as seen through the eyes of the musician in the wings. Discover the method behind supporting improvisers and actors on stage. Explore improvised scoring techniques such as environmental, stylistic and punctuational. Learn the fundamentals of collaborating with improvisers to create fully realized songs on the spot. Music Direction for improv and sketch comedy is a unique art combining numerous disciplines that will push even the most accomplished musician to new heights. This 3-hour workshop will load students up with concepts, tips and techniques from one of the most experienced career Music Directors in the business. The Nashville Improv Company is looking for the next generation of Musical Directors and would love that to be you. You can apply here. Questions? Call 615-544-5386 or email [email protected] Also, please pass this around to any musicians you feel may be interested. Saturday January 18th, 2014 Get ready to celebrate everything good (and bad) about our favorite 80's genre: Hair Metal! Two improv teams face off in an epic "battle of the bands" for a "recording contract". Grab your ripped jeans and Aquanet and have fun with us! Thank you Nashville for selling this show OUT. Want to make a huge difference in someones life? We know you love all the fantastic photos of our cast having a blast improvising. They are all thanks to Heather Clemons Photography. Her studio was seriously destroyed by the Polar Vortex of 2014. The pipes in her studio froze, burst and now her entire studio is out of commission for several weeks. She's lost backdrops, sheetrock, props and the floor may have to be replaced. As a small business owner the cleanup is all falling on her shoulders & that's a heavy task. That's where you & NIC come in. We've never done this before, but we're setting up a donation page for her & all proceeds from our January 18th show are going to help her rebuild. Please clicky, read, donate & share to help this great small business owner. Click here to read more about Heather & to donate. |
